If I need to name one place in Dubrovnik where you
must stop by, it is War Photo Limited
located in middle of old city of Dubrovnik. The exhibitions in this gallery are
powerful, brutal, honest and moving. This is no way the light experience during
your holiday, but by visiting here you start to understand better the history
of Croatia and ex-Yugoslavia.
While visiting the gallery my mind was filled with all
kind of thoughts and feelings. As an amateur photographer I can’t stop
wondering how these people – professional war photojournalists – are able to do
their work? I’m a big believer that best photographs are created with emotion
and that emotion behind the camera is something which will be transferred to
photograph. But are you able to work that way in the middle of the war? Or will
your own photos hunt you for the rest of your life? Do you need to dampen – or at
least try to dampen - your own feelings when you are documenting something like
that? In any case the photos in expeditions were breathtaking and full of
emotions…
