TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY IN ANDALUCIA: CÁDIZ

Cádiz is located in western side of Andalucia and it is capital of Cádiz province. Andalucia is having about 800 kilometers of coastline, most of it is Mediterranean coast, but there is also some 240 kilometers of Atlantic coast. City of Cadiz is located in Atlantic part of the coast and it has been built into the tip of peninsula and it’s almost totally surrounded by sea. It’s one of the big port locations in Spain, but in addition to that it’s also really charming city!

Cádiz is densely populated city although its population has been decreasing steadily lately

Cádiz Cathedral was burned down in 1596 and the rebuilding started in 1776

Cádiz by night – I love these warm and dark nights in South Europe as that is so rare in Finland

TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY IN ANDALUCIA: RONDA

Another pleasant surprise was town of Ronda. Ronda is located inland, in mountainous area of Malaga province, about 100 kilometres from city of Malaga. River runs through town in the canyon (100 meters deep) and it’s dividing town into two. The views beside the canyon are stunning and short coffee break in Ronda made me want more of it and next time I will stay overnight and will hike down the canyon to see the opposite views.

At least coffee break was definitely relaxing one with this kind of views.

TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY IN ANDALUCIA: CABO DE GATA

Cabo de Gata is natural park located in northeast corner of Iberian peninsula in Almeria province. It is known by its beaches, coral reefs and volcanic rocks. The inland part of the natural park is semi-desert, so most interesting parts are definitely in the coastline of the park.

It was almost 40 degrees during my visit there and due that my visit was lot shorter than originally planned and unfortunately I wasn’t able to do any hiking. This is one of those places which I definitely need to visit again later. This time I managed to saw only little during my fast drive through.

Arrecife de las Sirenas, maybe the most photographed spot in the natural park - shame that I wasn't there during sunset

TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY IN ANDALUCIA: CUEVA DE NERJA

Another reason why I came to Nerja was located outside the city. There is big stalactite cave, Cueva de Nerja, located 5 kilometres outside the city center.

The temperature in cave was much cooler than outside, so it was refreshing visit during the hot summer day. I enjoyed the views in the cave a lot as this was my first visit ever to stalactite cave. As I didn’t have my tripod with me (and probably it wouldn’t have been allowed anyway) the photographing was bit challenging - I need to practice this a bit and try this one again later in some other cave.

They are arranging some music gigs in the cave – must be amazing place for that, I can imagine that acoustic is nice!

Although the visit to the cave was already delightful, the best part of my excursion was still ahead. I decided to walk back to the city center. And views during my walk back were totally worth of few sweat drops in midday sun!

One my way back I saw some nice views to Mediterranean sea..

..and to city of Nerja
When looking up to the mountains you can see Puente del Águila (Eagle bridge) built in 19th century for the use of local sugar factory
