“For the eyes of the world now lock into space,to the moon and to the planets beyond, and we have vowed that we shall not seeit governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of freedom and peace.”
John
F. Kennedy (part of Moon Speech at Rice Stadium on 12th of September
1962)
Kennedy
Space Center started its operations in 1962 while John F. Kennedy was the President
of USA and Center was renamed in honor of him as Kennedy Space Center soon after

One place definitely worth visiting in Florida is Kennedy Space Center. It’s entertaining,
educational and historical place to visit. Kennedy Space Center is still in operative
use and NASA is doing rocket
launches in the area which you can monitor when visiting the
center or also from the nearby beaches. Unfortunately there wasn’t any launches
scheduled during our time in Florida, so we were not able to witness a launch,
but Kennedy Space Center is anyway worth the visit. This historical place was
the home base of Apollo program, among many others. Schedule full day for the
visit as there are lot of things to do and see in the area. Unfortunately we
didn’t have enough time to explore everything as we get stuck in the traffic
jam for couple of hours on our way to the Center, so probably I will come back
to this place one day to explore it in less hurry.
Space Shuttle
Atlantis started its last flight on 8th of July 2011 being also the
last flight of NASA’s Space Shuttle program which lasted 30 years

in Kennedy’s Space Center Visitor Complex
